PVA Water Soluble Film

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA or PVOH) is a special water-soluble polymer, also known as water-soluble "plastic". Polyvinyl alcohol itself has excellent qualities such as solvent resistance, gas barrier properties, high transparency, and antistatic properties. PVA water-soluble film products are green and environmentally friendly materials, and have been recognized by national environmental protection departments in Europe, America, Japan and other countries. Third-party tests show that the biological oxygen consumption (BOD) of polyvinyl alcohol is much smaller than that of starch. Polyvinyl alcohol is non-toxic, prevents the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, and has no effect on solid waste treatment and environmental sanitation. Polyvinyl alcohol can be almost completely decomposed, and if polyvinyl alcohol enters the soil , it can improve the quality of the soil.

As a unique material, water-soluble film made of polyvinyl alcohol is widely used in Europe, America, Japan and other countries. Among them, Kuraray Corporation, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, Aicello Corporation, MONOSOL of the United States (already acquired by Kuraray of Japan), British SOLUPAK and other PVA product manufacturers have a greater influence. In recent years, after more than ten years of hard work, Chinese companies have made important progress in the manufacture of PVA water-soluble film.

Basic requirements for high-quality PVA water-soluble film

High-quality PVA water-soluble film is required to be soluble in cold water and hot water to meet different applications, and it also needs to have excellent heat sealability and printability.

As a packaging material, PVA water-soluble film must meet the requirements for packaging agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and sanitary chemicals (including cosmetics); there are also marble countertop protective films, embroidery basic materials, curved surface printing, etc. It can be used in many areas which require water dissolving and easy cleaning.

PVA water-soluble films can be soluble in cold water at about 5°C to hot water around 60°C. PVA films with higher water resistance levels have also been developed.

To evaluate the quality of PVA water-soluble film, in addition to some basic qualities such as thickness, width, transparency, softness and other visual indicators, it depends heavily on the downstream application fields.
